Okay, so have you ever looked in your closet & felt overwhelmed by all of the stuff in there?! Do you have so many things you don’t like? Doesn’t fit right? You have no clue how to wear it? Or maybe you just hold on to it thinking it will come back in style? I have been there… It can be overwhelming & instead of enjoying getting dressed, you just put on the same outfit you wore last week & off you go… Yep, that was me after I had Ro (& I looovveeee styling outfits) but I got in a leggings and tee shirt rut! I had too many options, not enough time to figure out what fit right anymore, and I just got comfortable. I lost that spark of joy’ to get dressed if you will… It happens to the best of us 🙂 If any of that sounds familiar, then this post is of you mama!
I am SO excited to share with you a project I have been working on for years (in my brain) & weeks here on the blog! I have scoured the internet for comfortable, practical, and affordable pieces to put together to create a Summer Capsule Wardrobe! Maybe you are wondering what that is…? Let me explain…
What is a Capsule Wardrobe?
It’s a collection of pieces, in this case 30 pieces, that you mix and match to create different looks. Some people stick to capsule wardrobes strictly, not adding anything for an entire season. And some use a capsule as a home base, adding pieces strategically throughout a season. We will be doing both over here! Beginning today I will only wear & style the 30 items in the capsule for the next 30 days. Then after that, I will strategically add pieces here and there with purpose throughout the rest of Summer.
Who is this Summer Capsule for?
It’s for women who want to feel confident, get inspired when they look into their closet, and get intentional about the pieces they add to it. The Summer capsule is pretty casual, but I added a few heels & dresses that can be dressed up for say, date night or an event you may have. Everything in the capsule is comfortable & chosen with a mom in mind, but it can work for any woman who wants to get mindful about her wardrobe! I specifically created this capsule with a variety of price point options, including budget-friendly options, so whether you are looking to add an investment pair of jeans or an affordable pair of heels – you have options!

Shop Tops
The key here is to have a mix of solid & patterned tanks + short sleeve options. I have 2 casual tanks but if you need more dressy options you can edit to fit your needs. I would just recommend staying around 10 top options. (& don’t skip the short sleeve button up – it’s so versatile that it will help with outfit variety!)
Here are a few of my personal favorites included: Tie Tank | Square Neck Tank – on sale today with code: FIREWORKS | SS Button- Up | Dressy Tank – Under $30 & reversible!
Shop Layers
You might be wondering why I included layers for Summer… in the Summer I find myself grabbing something to take into places because the AC is always cranked up- if you get cold like me I would recommend keeping these. Especially, the denim jacket – here is my absolute favorite of all time: Old Navy Denim Jacket (Under $45!) Layers add options to vary outfits & you might appreciate that heading into 30 days! Just choose lightweight options.
Shop Dresses
This includes rompers or jumpsuits too. Whatever is more your speed! I would choose a mix of solid & printed options and at least one dressy option.
Shop Bottoms
I stuck to the basics with a variety of denim options. I personally spend more on denim because I have my favorites that last but I added several denim price point options. Here are my personal favorite denim options:
Madewell high rise skinny | Pilcro and the Letterpress skinny – so soft & comfortable! | High rise shorts – literally magic! They fit so well & have a good length for momming it up. These come in a lot of wash options! | Button Front Denim Skirt – only $30 today with code FIREWORKS
I also went with a paper bag short & patterned skirt to add some trendy pieces since the rest of the categories are more basic. I styled the exact leopard skirt I included in the capsule 5 different ways here – so you already have 5 of the 30 days of outfit ideas! viola! If you want more classic options, I added some classic neutral bottom & patterned bottom options as well.
Shoes
I chose a mix of dressier & casual options to help switch up outfits. All of the dressier options I chose have lower heels so you could definitely style them in a more casual way & still chase your toddler around 🙂 My pop of color heels scream summer PLUS they are super affordable, so comfy, & surprisingly easy to pair with many of the options in the capsule- I highly recommend these. They come in whole sizes and I often wear an 8.5 but went with an 8 and they fit perfect.

My hope and purpose for this Summer Collection is to inspire you to rework pieces you already own & update your closet with mindful pieces that mix well with what you already own. I want you to look into your closet with a new set of eyes & get excited about getting dressed again! The most important part of this capsule is getting creative & having fun with it!
I’ll do a weekly round up on the blog every Monday for the next month showing you how I styled the pieces throughout the week. You can also get daily capsule inspo over on Instagram & I’ll save a highlights tab there too.
