10×10 Casual Spring Capsule Challenge

March 9, 2020
10 PIECE SPRING CAPSULE CHALLENGE
2020 10 Piece Spring Capsule

PIN ME FOR LATER! Sizing notes: Everything fits TTS unless noted.

Hey friends! T-minus 7 days until the SPRING CAPSULE LAUNCH!  I love a good 10×10 challenge & I thought it would be the perfect precursor / a little sneaky peek into the capsule that launches next Monday!

What is a 10×10 Challenge?

You wear 10 items of clothing for 10 days. It’s that easy! I love it because it challenges you to get creative & it helps give you a strong foundation for a capsule closet. After the challenge, you will find you get really good at mixing & matching your staple items.

Below I’ll share my 10 exact items – I made sure they were affordable with most items under $50! With these items, if you want or need to get a start on the capsule shopping before next week, you can! Then, when you are ready, join me in the challenge by using #dds10x10springchallenge  & tagging @danielledunnstyle on Instagram so I can see your looks & share them with our community!

(Note: If you don’t see images below, refresh browser.)

Tops

Solid Tank (a new favorite!) – I bought several colors of this one because I love the square neckline & fit! It’s great for layering but also super cute as a stand alone top.

Striped Tee – Just picked this up at Madewell! It’s a classic option, with a rounded hem! I love how soft it is & since I got it a few weeks ago, I’m pretty sure I have worn it at least 8 times!

Short Sleeve Button Up – I went with a fun leopard print but it’s also available in solids.  I can’t stress enough how much a button up top can be such a closet staple! They truly are so versatile!

Long-Sleeve Button Up – what I said up there 😉

White Top – I chose a dressier white top to help elevate my casual capsule for events, date nights, etc… (also, this one is nursing friend for all you nursing mamas out there!) Sizing note: Runs slightly big. I would size down one if you aren’t nursing.

Lightweight Sweater (V Neck Option)- I chose a bold Coral color (says Red online, but that’s not true!).  I always like to add a pop of color somewhere in my capsules to add some spice & variety. It does come in other more muted colors though if that’s more your speed 🙂

Layers

Denim Jacket (Dark Wash / Light Wash)  – I know, I know, your shocked! haha This is and always will be, my number one FAVORITE closet item!

Moto Jacket (Spring Version)– This is a gamble in the capsule, but I love my suede moto jacket so much I just wanted to wear it a little longer! I think with the cool temps we are still having I will be so glad I included this layer.

Bottoms

High Rise Skinny Jeans – I just picked these up at Abercrombie & Fitch, which by the way, was my first time there since high school! I could not believe how much I loved what they had & how well the jeans fit! I will absolutely be adding A&F back into the shopping rotation!

Mid-rise White Straight leg – I have been on the hunt for a good pair of white denim for about 2 years! You will not believe where I finally found a pair that I loved….OLD NAVY! They fit great, their not see through, & you can’t see the pocket out line – this last one has been my problem with every other pair I have tried on! I  100% recommend these! Sizing note: I sized up one to a 4 in these.

I hope this 10 piece capsule challenge helps to make the upcoming Spring capsule more digestible to take in before I hit ya with all 30 pieces on Monday! I chose mainly basics & closet staples for this challenge in hopes that you own most of these items (or similar items), thus taking 10 items off your capsule closet shopping list right from the start! #winning If you want to learn more about Capsule Wardrobes – I wrote all about it in this 2019 Summer Capsule post.

Okay friends, I hope you were able able to soak in every ray of sunshine this weekend! Cannot wait to see all of your 10×10 Challenge looks – don’t forget to tag me & #dds10x10springchallenge! See you back here next week for the big SPRING CAPSULE LAUNCH!!
